1. Clean Your Gaming Station.
Whether you are playing Modern Warfare 2 on an Xbox 360, PC, or PS3, you need to have a clean gaming area. Get rid of anything cluttering up your gaming space. You don't want to be in an intense virtual battle only to realize a glass of soda has been knocked over and spilled all over your pretty floor. You'll also want to make sure there's nothing cluttering up that pretty floor as well. Don't try to hide it, almost all of us throw our clothes into the floor because frankly, for me at least, I'm too lazy to put them in the laundry basket. You don't want to trip over some loose clothes as your running to your console/PC to pop the disc in, right?

2. Make Your Gaming Area As Dark As Possible. Close your curtains, shut your door, and flip that light switch

The darker your gaming room is, the better. I don't know if you guys have this problem, but it's a big problem for me. During the day, the sun glares off my TV screen to really interrupt my gaming sessions. After your room is darkened, Turn up the brightness on your TV, to the max setting, or until it's comfortable. Don't have it so bright that when you shoot your gun you have a seizure, but make sure everything is quite easily visible.

3. Upgrade Your Hardware/Software.
For any PC players who aren't boycotting MW2, you'll want to make sure you're PC software is up-to-date. You don't want to be in the middle of battling through an intense campaign mission only to realize you need to update your software, and then restart your computer for the update to take effect. For those console users, you'll want to make sure to have good hardware available. It might cause a little frustration if you're dangling on the top of a cliff to have your joystick get stuck and cause you to walk you right over the edge. Also, if you have a faulty mic, make sure to get it fixed or to get a new one; you always need to keep in touch with your team so you can coordinate those assaults.

4. Stock Up.
We need to be prepared and have enough food/drinks to last through the initial shock of having the game, so we don't want to go grocery shopping for more goodies. For those of you who have mini-fridges in your gaming areas, make sure they are fully stocked so you will never be hungry/thirsty. Remember, hunger or thirst can distract from the overall gaming experience. Whilst gaming, most of us want a quick snack to keep our bellies from growling. Here are a few good foods to take care of the "munchies":
• Microwave pizzas (My personal favorite) - these take only a few minutes in the microwave. Eat one or two of these and you'll be set for hours.
• Fast food - on your way home from work or school, pick yourself up some fast food. Or try to get your family/roommate to pick up some for you. Most fast food is easy to eat, is fast (obviously…), and is cheap. It may not be the healthiest food ever, but pick yourself up a burger or a chicken sandwich, and you'll be ready for a night of gaming. Just DON'T get fries (I'll explain why later).
• Order in food - this is good because you don't have to get out of your home to get them. Just call 'em up, tell 'em what you want, and they'll bring it right to you.
• Hot Pockets (or anything similar) - these are quickly made, very easy to eat, not messy at all, and there's a wide variety different brands so you don't get tired of eating the same thing over and over.
• Other - we still have a few days 'til the launch, so think of your favorite foods, and how you can obtain them quickly and easily. Please comment on any other foods that you might think of, to help out fellow gamers.
Now that you have chosen your food, make sure to follow and apply these simple rules to make sure the foods you have thought of are actually as good as you thought.
• Do NOT eat any foods that contain grease in them! You will get grease all over your controller/keyboard. So no potato chips, or anything of that sort. (This is why fries are bad). Sandwiches are ok, because you hold them by the bread/bun.
• Don’t eat foods that leave 'waste' products. This means wrappers, plates, or anything like that, this will only clutter your gaming area.
• Don’t eat foods that require sauce, seasoning, dressing, etc. This is another reason why fries aren't good, if you are going to eat ketchup with them. The sauce can be spilled, and is quite messy a lot of the time.

5. Stock Up On Energy Drinks.
If you plan to get the game at the midnight launch and stay up all night playing it, you might need a little help. That's where those pure, liquid-caffeine drinks come in. Those are sure to keep you up for hours upon hours. So before the 10th, go to the store, and grab a few of those Modern Warfare 2-themed Monster Energy Drinks, just for the occasion. I didn't get paid to put that in there, I promise.

6. Check Your Batteries.
Make sure if you have a wireless controller/keyboard that it has new batteries, or that the batteries are fully charged. Always have back-up batteries in case something happens to yours, or if you forget to check them and they go dead. You definitely don't want to have to run to buy new batteries during the heat of battle.

7. Clear An Unboxing Spot.
If you are one of those gamers that are getting a MW2 Prestige Edition, or the Limited Edition Xbox 360 Console, you'll definitely want to have a clear spot on your floor to unbox everything. Think of everything you will be getting, and have a place to put it.

8. Check All Of Your Cables/Cords.
Sometimes when you're gaming, one of your cords will come loose and cause you to get disconnected from a game, or cause you to lose power in your console/PC. Make sure to check all of your cables to know that none of them are loose or damaged.

9. Complete All Responsibilities.
Do all of your chores or work before the launch. Make sure these are all complete so you will be able to have an uninterrupted gaming session. Nobody wants to be doing chores/work when a copy of Modern Warfare 2 is lying right across the room just begging to be played.

10. Save Your Money.
Be sure to have enough money to buy the game on launch day! How horrible would it be to know that all of your friends are playing MW2 and you're not because you forgot to save up enough money to buy it?

11. Load Your Music.
If you're one of those gamers who likes to listen to music while they play games, then you might want to load your MP3 player with your newest favorite songs so you can save time by not doing that after the release. If you pay for your music, which all good-hearted people should do, make sure you don’t spend too much money on music, so you will still have enough to buy the game itself.

12. Have A Trusted Internet Connection.
Nobody wants to be disconnected from the internet just because their internet service provider has decided to repair their hardware on the night of the MW2 release. Make sure you're not always losing connection to the games you're in, and if you are having problems, call your internet service provider to see what the issue is, and how it can be resolved.

13. Throw A Party.
Hey, everyone loves a good party, right? Well, how about on launch night you invite all your friends over to share in your excitement over the new game? So order that pizza, buy some energy drinks, and pull an all-nighter for Modern Warfare 2.
